"Poor Customer Service Janine, I received your voicemail this morning. Approximately halfway through your message, you referenced the number of positive reviews you have received; that point is not relevant to the concerns I raised. For clarity, I am restating the issues: First, while mowing my lawn, a small stone was propelled by the mower and shattered a window on my home. I contacted you to understand what coverage options might apply. Your response was, “I’ve never heard of that happening before,” which did not address my question or provide any guidance. Second, I contacted you to ask whether a broken front door could be covered under my insurance policy and what my options might be for replacement. Your response was, “That’s not what insurance is for,” without any further explanation or clarification. In both instances, the responses were dismissive and failed to address the substance of my inquiries or provide meaningful assistance. While I acknowledge your invitation to continue the discussion by phone, I do not believe a call would be productive given the nature of the prior interactions. I am formally contesting the tone and handling of my inquiries and request that this matter be reviewed to ensure more appropriate handling of similar concerns in the future. Sincerely, Harold Winkle _______________________________________________________________ ORIGINAL CONCERN: I am writing to formally document a concern regarding my phone interactions with Janine DiPalma, which I believe reflect a pattern of dismissive and unprofessional customer service. When I first moved into my home in 2017, I contacted Janine DiPalma with two insurance-related questions. I revisited these same concerns in mid-2025 and when I expressed my concerns to another agent, I was assured that my concerns would be relayed to Janine DiPalma; however, I received no apology, no response from Janiine DiPalma During both instances, I felt patronized and dismissed. The manner in which my questions were handled left me uncertain about how to proceed and discouraged from seeking further clarification. The specific situations are as follows: While mowing my lawn, a small stone was propelled into a window on my home, shattering the glass. In 2017 contacted Janine to understand whether this type of incident could be covered under my insurance policy. Her response, delivered in a dismissive tone, was: “I’ve never heard of that happening before!” In a separate instance, a contractor working on my home renovation left the front door slightly ajar. A strong gust of wind subsequently damaged the door hinges. I asked whether this scenario might be covered under my policy. Janine responded in a manner that came across as abrupt and dismissive, stating words to the effect of: “That’s not what insurance is for!” In both cases, I was seeking clarification on coverage and guidance on next steps. Instead, my concerns were not taken seriously. I raised these issues previously by phone in 2017 and again in mid-2025. Most recently, in April 2026, I visited the office in person and spoke with another agent, who indicated that my concerns would be passed along The agent I spoke with did offer an apology, but did not seem to understand my frustration as that agent only offered to discuss coverage options. However, I did not receive an apology from Janine DiPalma, any acknowledgment of the poor customer service, or any indication that steps would be taken to improve the experience. At this point, my concern is not only with the original interactions but also with the apparent lack of follow-through. I am not confident that my feedback will be meaningfully addressed. I am requesting acknowledgment of this complaint and clarification on how your office intends to address customer service concerns of this nature going forward. Based on my experience, asking basic coverage questions was met with a dismissive and patronizing tone by Janine DiPalma rather than professional guidance. Sincerely, Harold Winkle"
